Sound you can feel.
Sound is vibration moving through the air. Rest on a vibroacoustic table and the same vibration travels into the surface beneath you. This short exploration shows how.

01 / VIBRATION
Every sound starts as movement.
A string, a speaker or a drum skin moves back and forth, pushing on the air around it. The number of those movements each second is the frequency, measured in hertz (Hz). Low frequencies move slowly and deeply; they are the tones in bass lines and kick drums.

02 / TRY IT
Change the frequency.
Drag the slider to see how the wave tightens as the frequency rises. The drawing is slowed down so you can follow it.
Sub-bass sits at the bottom edge of human hearing. Tones this low are often noticed as a physical sensation as much as a sound.

03 / ON THE TABLE
From sound to touch.
In a Vibroacoustic Relaxation Session, you rest on a vibroacoustic table and listen through headphones to selected tracks. The table turns that sound into gentle vibration you can feel through the surface beneath you.
Experiences are personal; no particular response or clinical benefit is promised.
